General principles for the preparation of meat pie from puff pastry with minced meat

To buy frozen puff pastry is not difficult today, both yeast and yeast-free. The main thing - do not forget that before using it you need to remove it from the freezer in advance, so that by the beginning of work it becomes soft. If time and cooking skills allow, you can make puff pastry yourself. The process is quite lengthy and time-consuming. But there are simplified recipes, here is one of them: you will need a pack of butter, two thirds of a glass of water, two glasses of flour, a quarter of a teaspoon of salt and a spoonful of sugar. Butter is chopped with a knife along with flour until crumbs are obtained. Salt and sugar are diluted in cold water, which is then poured into a mixture of oil and flour. The dough is kneading quickly, it is covered with a towel and set in the cold for two to three hours. After this, the dough is rolled out twice, while each time folding it into three or four layers.

Almost any stuffing is suitable for the filling: from beef or pork, chicken or turkey. It turns out juicier and tastier if you take pork and beef in equal proportions. Minced onions also give juiciness. Fragrant spices bring different shades of taste. You can choose them according to your preference, but the classics of the genre - ground black pepper - will suit any kind of minced meat.

What else can diversify the filling? Potatoes and cabbage are very tasty with minced meat, it is hearty with the addition of mushrooms, the pie with boiled eggs looks unusual, the open pie from puff pastry with minced meat and cheese looks original.
