Fish casserole - general principles and methods of preparation

Fish is an important element in a healthy diet. It is rich in essential vitamins and trace elements necessary for a full life. Since fish meat contains a small amount of connective tissue, it is very easily absorbed. At the same time, fish is not too high in calories, so it is part of many diets, including medicinal ones.

However, not everyone likes fish dishes, especially for children. Then such a dish as a fish casserole comes to the rescue. A fish casserole can make an excellent second course for lunch or dinner. In addition to fish, to prepare it, use casserole filler in the form of potatoes, zucchini (zucchini), carrots or fried mushrooms. When cooking fish casseroles, the dish is seasoned with rosemary, ground nutmeg, black pepper, thyme. From above, the casserole is often poured with sour cream or eggs whipped with milk.

Fish casserole - preparation of products

As a rule, fish fillets are used to prepare casseroles, since in this case there is no need to clean and cut the fish. The fillet from which the casserole will be prepared should be washed and cut into small pieces.

The remaining components of the dish, most often vegetables, should also be washed, cleaned and ground according to the recipe. Cheese should be grated.

Recipe 1: Salmon Fish Casserole with Rice

Very tasty and healthy casserole. The combination of fish and rice is considered almost perfect in cooking, and if you add it with asparagus beans and season with lemon and spices, you get a really delicious dish in terms of taste and appearance.

Ingredients:

150 gr. long grain rice;
1 egg
80 gr. hard cheese;
250 gr salmon
2 tbsp. l lemon juice;
150 gr. asparagus beans;
to taste dill, oregano and pepper.

Cooking method:

1. Cut the salmon into small pieces, sprinkle it with oregano and a mixture of freshly ground pepper, sprinkle with lemon juice and leave to marinate a little.

2. Rinse the rice in several waters, boil it in salted water, so as not to allow it to boil (it is better not to boil a little). Leave the finished rice to cool.

3. Return to the fish: pouring the vegetable oil into the pan, lightly fry the salmon in it, literally for several minutes, and add the asparagus beans, salt and pepper to it. We make the fire strong enough and heat the beans in a pan with fish for several minutes with constant stirring.

4. Grate hard cheese on a coarse grater. Our rice has already cooled by this time, mix it with an egg, half of the grated cheese and dill.

5. We spread the resulting mixture into baking molds, oiled, put the fish and beans on top, sprinkle with the rest of the cheese and bake for about 15 minutes to make a golden crust. Sprinkle dill on top and garnish with thin slices of lemon.

Recipe 2: Fish Casserole with Onions, Carrots and Cheese

This fish casserole is good because any vegetables can be added to it based on your taste. In it you can combine fish not only with onions and carrots, but also with pepper, tomatoes, etc. Thanks to the participation of sour cream and mayonnaise in the recipe, this dish is very satisfying.

Ingredients:

500 gr. fillet of sea fish;
2 carrots;
2 onions;
half a lemon;
3 tbsp. l sour cream with mayonnaise;
100 gr. hard cheese;
to taste salt with herbs and spices.

Cooking method:

1. After cutting the fish fillet in small pieces, pour it with lemon juice, sprinkle with spices and leave to marinate.

2. Cheese grated on a coarse grater, finely chop the greens.

3. After peeling the onions and carrots, cut them into rings. Fry the onions, then add the carrots there and simmer them together until soft, then add finely chopped greens to them with mayonnaise, sour cream and grated cheese. Again, mix everything and put it in a mold. Bake in a well preheated hot oven for about half an hour.

Recipe 3: Bacon Fish Casserole

Tasty and nutritious dish. It has fish, bacon, cheese, vegetables - in short, everything in order to become a great start to the day or the main course of a family dinner.

Ingredients:

0.5 kg of potatoes;
300 gr fish fillet;
100 gr. bacon
150 gr. flour;
4 eggs;
2 onions;
3 cloves of garlic;
2 bell peppers;
5 tbsp. l sour cream;
100 gr. hard cheese;
to taste greens with salt and spices.

Cooking method:

1. Peel the potatoes, then, boiling it in salted water, make mashed potatoes. Mix it with flour, one egg and spices, knead the dough.

2. Peel and finely chop the onion and pepper, chop the garlic finely. Fry the onion in sunflower oil, add finely chopped garlic with pepper, salt and season with spices.

3. Eggs are slightly beaten with sour cream. Cut the bacon into thin strips. We cut the fish into small pieces, put them in a bowl, transfer the vegetables from the pan to the same place and mix everything with bacon, beaten with sour cream eggs, grated cheese, salt and season to taste.

4. Having laid the potato dough in a greased form, we form the sides, put the prepared filling and bake in the oven for about half an hour. Serve the casserole warm.

Recipe 4: Greek Fish Casserole

Greek fish casserole can be called easy to prepare, but very worthy of attention dish. Fish goes well with zucchini, this duet can be found in many recipes. The casserole is very tender and tasty, so the whole family will surely like the dish.

Ingredients:

0.5 kg fillet of pollock;
4 eggs;
200 gr. milk;
100 gr. hard salty cheese;
2 medium squash;
3 small tomatoes;
1 red and 1 green bell peppers;
to taste parsley.

Cooking method:

1. My fish fillet and cut into small pieces, salt and pepper.

2. Zucchini peel and cut into long slices, bell peppers and tomatoes cut into circles.

3. Beat eggs with milk in a homogeneous mass, adding salt, black pepper and your favorite spices.

4. Having greased the baking dish with sunflower oil, we spread the components into it in layers, alternating zucchini, fish, tomatoes and bell pepper.

5. Finely chop the parsley, pour it over the casserole, fill it with eggs whipped with milk, and immediately put it in a well-heated oven for baking for about half an hour.

6. While the casserole is in the oven, grate hard cheese on a fine grater. Then, after taking the casserole, sprinkle it with cheese and return it to the oven so that it is baked for about 15 minutes. When it is ready and cools, we separate it with a knife from the sides, cut it into pieces and serve it on the table.

Fish casserole - tips from experienced chefs

Fillet of almost any sea fish is suitable for cooking fish casseroles. You can take a river, but, as you know, it contains a lot of bones, so river fish is not suitable for cooking, for example, casseroles for a child.

In the recipe with bacon, you need less flour, otherwise you get dough brick instead of potatoes.
