Journal of Alzheimer's Disease published the results of several studies that show that excess sweets have a negative effect not only on your figure, but also on the brain.

Previously, sugar was always thought to “nourish” the brain. However, in-depth studies have shown that with a large consumption of sugar and sugar-containing products, there is a loss of the ability to process, use and digestibility. This mechanism is similar to the sugar processing situation that occurs in people with type 2 diabetes.

People who are over the age of seventy years and older, when consuming carbohydrates above the norm, are 4 times at risk of developing mental disorders. Those people who prefer the consumption of protein and fatty foods have almost no chance of developing such diseases.

It was found that experimental subjects who consumed more carbohydrates on their menu were 1.5 times more likely to experience a decrease in mental ability. A moderate amount of sugar intake is not scary, but its excess in the body leads to moderate cognitive impairment.

This study was conducted at Mayo Clinic under the supervision of researcher Rosbad Roberds, who, describing the results, emphasized the importance of a properly balanced diet, since each of the ingredients in your diet plays an important role in the life of your body.
