The hormone ghrelin responsible for appetite, as it turned out, is able to increase sexual desire. Such conclusions allowed to make experiments with laboratory rodents. Mice were given ghrelin, after which they began to actively look for a partner for mating. But the substance, the inhibitory effect of ghrelin, reduces the body's hormonal activity, thereby reducing sexual activity.

Biologists say that ghrelin is also responsible for the mechanisms that regulate the feeling of reward, which are caused by food, alcohol, drugs, and now sex. However, while scientists are not sure that this hormone has a similar effect to mice on the human body.

If experiments with ghrelin are successful, then scientists hope to use it in the treatment of various sexual disorders, while not having effective drugs to eliminate.
